When Substack launched its new Chat feature (available on mobile, Android and iOS both), I was excited. Itās like a group text that lives right here on SubstackāI donāt need to convince my US subscribers to install Telegram, and they donāt need to convince me to start using WhatsApp. And nobody needs to install Discord.
I started posting there now and again, and you and I have had some nice exchanges. Most notably for me, I invited subscribers to play some chess, and quickly lost one to Michael Bubb. (Btw, Iām ānikita-psypolā on Chess.comāfeel free to challenge me to a game, I am prepared to lose many more.)
There was one problem: subscribers couldnāt start their own threadsāthey had to respond to prompts from meāand Iāve always wanted a space where you all could talk to each other directly. From the email exchanges and Zoom calls that Iāve had with you, I know there are some incredible people here, and Iād love for them to meet one another.
Well, this is fixed now.
